Like Lord BP said,

I believe that God put us in this jolly world to be happy and enjoy life. Happiness doesn't come from being rich, nor merely from being successful in your career, nor by self-indulgence. One step towards happiness is to make yourself healthy and strong while you are a boy, so that you can be useful and so you can enjoy life when you are a man.

Nature study will show you how full of beautiful and wonderful things God has made the world for you to enjoy. Be contented with what you have got and make the best of it. Look on the bright side of things instead of the gloomy one.

But the real way to get happiness is by giving out happiness to other people. Try and leave this world a little better than you found it and when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate you have not wasted your time but have done your best. "Be Prepared" in this way, to live happy and to die happy- stick to your Scout Promise always when you have ceased to be a boy - and God help you to do it.

Happy New Year to all brothers and sisters of Agila Pilipinas.

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines – National Office recently provided Memorandum Number 51 Series of 2012 on the National Guidelines and Procedure in Processing the Application for Eagle Scout Rank dated 08 November 2012.

The Memorandum aimed to revitalized and replenish the procedure on Advancement of our Senior Scouts. The new guidelines included (2)two additional Merit Badge Requirements, the new Merit Badge Application FormApplication for Merit Badge Counselor and the Revised Application for Eagle Scout Rank. The purposes of the forms are to provide a more clear and accurate information about the each Merit Badge accomplishment of Senior Scouts as well as to make the Merit Badge Counselors more active participants of the Scouting Movement. It will also give Senior Scouts clear guidelines in finishing a Merit Badge Requirement since each Merit Badge Requirement now includes dates and requirements assigned by the Merit Badge Counselor.  For the volunteers who wanted to become Merit Badge Counselors of each Senior Scout. The Application for Merit Badge Counselor gives them the opportunity to also help other scouts who would like to develop their skills on the same Merit Badge. The Application for MB Counselors are filled to the respective BSP – local Councils and are available for reference of Senior Scouts who are on the Trail to Eagle Scout. Moreover, the volunteer MB Counselor has the option to also be a registered BSP Lay Leader for the Local Council. While the two(2) additional MB requirement of Senior Scouts are the Go Green and Grow Green Merit badges. These merit badges are signs of scouts as protector of nature and being an environmentalist.

The forms can be downloaded from the Merit Badge Center Philippines Website. However, if you want a copy of the actual memorandum you can download it at the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Official Website.

José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896), was a Filipino nationalist and reformist. He is considered one of the national heroes of the Philippines, together with Andres Bonifacio. Studying in Europe, he was the most prominent advocate for reform in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era. He was wrongly implicated as the leader of the Katipunan Revolution, and that led to his execution on December 30, 1896, now celebrated as Rizal Day, a national holiday in the country.

Rizal was born to a wealthy family in Calamba, Laguna and was the seventh of eleven children. He attended the Ateneo Municipal de Manila, earning a Bachelor of Arts diploma and studied medicine at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. He continued his studies at the Universidad Central de Madrid in Madrid, Spain, earning the degree of Licentiate in Medicine, making him eligible to practice medicine. He also attended the University of Paris and earned a second doctorate at the University of Heidelberg.

Rizal was a polymath; besides medicine, he was also an artist who dabbled in painting, sketching, sculpting and woodcarving. He was a prolific poet, essayist, and novelist whose most famous works were his two novels, Noli me Tangere and its sequel, El filibusterismo. These social commentaries during the Spanish colonization of the country formed the nucleus of literature that inspired peaceful reformists and armed revolutionaries alike. Rizal was also a polyglot, conversant in twenty-two languages.

As a political figure, José Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan led by Andrés Bonifacio,, a secret society which would start the Philippine Revolution against Spain that eventually laid the foundation of the First Philippine Republic under Emilio Aguinaldo. He was a proponent of achieving Philippine self-government peacefully through institutional reform rather than through violent revolution, and would only support "violent means" as a last resort. Rizal believed that the only justification for national liberation and self-government is the restoration of the dignity of the people, saying "Why independence, if the slaves of today will be the tyrants of tomorrow?" The general consensus among Rizal scholars is that his execution by the Spanish government ignited the Philippine Revolution.
